Background:

Compressor intake systems require large volumes of air in order to effectively operate in a closed environment.  These compressors typically operate in close quarters and generate constant vibrations, temperature fluctuations and noise.  A single filter/muffler device can be used to protect the compressor from contamination.  Due to the harsh environment and the needs of the users, these filters must last a long time and of course be reliable.

Challenge:

AG Industries needed to develop a long life filter that met the following criteria:

• HEPA Filtration
• Brass Female Thread
• Able to last five years without performance drop-off
• Subject to constant temperature fluctuations and vibrations

Solution:

After researching the types of plastic that could be implemented, AG Industries used a durable, high-temp Valox® Plastic that has very stable characteristics.

Using thermal welding techniques and a modified synthetic HEPA pleat, AG Industries built a three-part filter housing system to encapsulate the pleat pack into the housing without using sealant. By using these techniques, the filter material, brass thread, and filters seals are airtight, secure, and able to withstand the stress of large temperature fluctuations and the vibratory conditions. Additionally, the filter serves as a muffler to regulate the air intake into the compressor and reduce the noise generated by the motor.

AG industries used a multi-step approach to complete this filter and delivered a total solution.
